Eric Lamela has been crowned the FIFA Best Goalkeeper or Puskas Award 2021 for his performance against Arsenal.
The former Tottenham midfielder scored a stunning goal in the Premier League clash. With Arsenal in March 2021, before being nominate for the Puskas Award alongside Patrick Chic. (Czech Republic v Scotland Euro 2020) and Mehdi Terami (Chelsea v Porto Champions League April 2021).
Fifa has chosen the Argentine’s goal as the winner of 2021. Which Lamela describes as an “honorable moment.” Even though I didn’t think. That the goal I could score would be this wonderful ufabet.
“To be honest, I didn’t practice shooting like this during training. It happened for a split second. Look for the best direction to shoot.”
But Lamela’s ‘Rabona’ – which nutmegged a defender on the way in – for Spurs to open the scoring in a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium has been crown as the best goal from 2021.
However, speaking via video call at the FIFA ceremony in Zurich, Lamela revealed that he doesn’t necessarily practice taking ‘Rabona’ shots in training.
Lamela’s triumph means that the Puskas Award has gone to a goal scored by a Spurs player for the second year running. Son Heung-min won the 2020 award for his incredible solo goal against Burnley in December 2019.
